Menomini yoU’s Language Apprentice Program is a 12-month program designed to advance the apprentice’s comprehension, use, understanding, and functionality in the Menomini language, through a practicable application as a working member of the Menomini yoU team. The program includes a mixture of continued development and growth in the individual’s language proficiency while also providing practical opportunities to actively use the language in everyday life, interactions with the community, and delivery of programming to the community.

The Language Apprentice Program is designed for emerging speakers of the language. It requires incoming apprentices to have a degree of functional ability to comprehend and communicate through the language to achieve success in the program. Our online classes and Menomini language institute are designed to be a pathway to the language apprentice program – for those who are not currently emerging speakers.

Menomini yoU began this program in January of 2022 with the initial cohort of language apprentices.
